I am a 70’s kid, born and bred in Newry, County Down, Northern Ireland. I started my journey in photography in 2006 and was inspired by the images I captured at the Portrush Air Show using a Panasonic bridge camera. One of those images of the wing acrobats can be seen in my black and white gallery.
My passion for photography grew from that point and has since developed into a love for monochrome images of local scenes in Ireland and of nature. I firmly believe that my work is “more than a snapshot” as I use my eyes to spot changing weather conditions and compositions that give my prints a different perspective to the "very samey" images seen on social media.
Whilst I love colour images I find black & white to have a more timeless look where light, shadows, contrast, blacks, whites, geometry and textures all play a major part in telling a story. For some of my images when I apply a Sepia or Selenium tone I feel this adds another dimension and takes that print closer to the look of a vintage 35mm film silver print.
